Web Design Projects

This is the redesign I did for Jim Mahfood's online portfolio. The front page and section images were already done from when someone else started the project, but I started the layout from scratch in order to make navigation more intuitive. My goal was also to make a design where the section images can be swapped out from time to time in order to keep it fresh without having to redo the entire site. The layout that I did for the "Brain Tour" was an online slide show. I edited most of the images, implemented the roll-overs, and did a majority of the HTML and CSS. The Alzheimer's Association also made a CD version for distribution to their chapters and other educational venues. My goal for this site was to create a layout that was visually interesting, yet simple enough that the design didn't overpower the photographer's work. Since the client expressed an interest in maintaining the site himself, it was built to be easily updated by a person with limited HTML skills. The site is no longer live, but you can click on the image to the right to see a larger screen capture. You can also view a mirror of it here.

Cardforum is one of the first sites at my previous employer for which I did a redesign, but it wasn't until a system was set up to dynamically generate pages that it finally went live. Stylesheets were limited to font usage mainly due to the limitations of older browsers. Click on the image to the right to see a larger screen capture or go to the link below to see the live site.

CardLine is a product that is part of CardForum, but this site isn't actively advertised due to it mainly being available for research purposes. The idea was to design a site similar to the parent site, while different enough that it would still be seen as its own entity. Stylesheets were limited to font usage mainly due to the limitations of older browsers. Click on the image to the right to see a larger screen capture or go to the link below to see the live site.

This design was created by an outside firm in Photoshop, though the layout had to be shuffled to accommodate the back end. I re-did the layout of the pages in HTML and also arranged the content to fit the new look. Stylesheets were limited to font usage mainly due to the limitations of older browsers. This was a new site created to be a sister product to Asset Securitization Report. The idea was to make the directory look similar for branding purposes, yet different enough that it wouldn't be confused with the other site. Stylesheets were limited to font usage mainly due to the limitations of older browsers. Click on the image to the right to see a larger screen capture or go to the link below to see the live site.

I did the Card Technology design when it was originally given its own site - it had previously been lumped in with another product. Click on the image to the right to see a larger screen capture.

This site was given another makeover shortly after I left the company, but the new look was based off of another site I'd redesigned while I was employed there.

This is a design created by an outside firm in Photoshop, but a co-worker and I did the actually laying out of the pages in HTML as well as plugging in and arranging the content. Click on the image to the right to see a larger screen capture or go to the link below to see the live site.

My main objective when designing this fan site was to make it visually interesting while keeping the file sizes as small as possible because I knew it could get killed on bandwidth. This approach came in especially handy when the site was mentioned in the July 2002 issue of Spin magazine in their cover story about the band (p. 68).
