I was contacted by the graphic design team at Argonne to create an intranet site to showcase their various print capabilities. They also requested the use of Dreamweaver templates and documentation so that they could update the site themselves after the project was complete. My goal with the design was to keep it simple so that their pieces would stand out, but also stick to their corporate design standards in order to coordinate with their other intranet websites. The creators of the P.I. Jane webcomic came to me because they wanted a new look for their site using WordPress and the ComicPress theme. I decided to use more photo-realistic artwork like the folder and the wooden desk background because the contrast made the illustrations stand out more. Boatspotter was a website project at National Marine Manufacturers Association that was in the concept stage when I created this mock-up. Click on the image to the right to see a larger screen capture.
National Marine Manufacturers Association
After several years of neglect, I had the opportunity to give this website a much-needed face lift. In addition to creating the new design, I helped plan the site architecture and suggested new features such as RSS. When I was approached to design the uGive Network site, one of the goals was to create a design that could be easily skinned. The site helps organizations fund-raise online, so it was going to use a back-end tool that would allow users to customize their account pages for more branding options. This is the most recent redesign I did for Jim Mahfood's online portfolio. I also designed the previous incarnation of the site, but the request this time was to use a simpler layout to make the artwork stand out more. I used a lightbox script in order to eliminate the need for pop-up windows and the most recent post from Jim's blog is automatically pulled for the site's front page. Seyfarth Anywhere website & browser icon
Seyfarth Shaw's external access site didn't have a large amount of content, so I needed to come up with a design that would take up the extra space but yet also be scaleable to various browser sizes. I also made a browser icon from the globe and used the same design elements in the print correspondence that went out about the site. Click on the image to the right to see larger versions.
Note: Logo substituted at firm's request.
This is the previous design I did for Jim Mahfood's online portfolio. The front page and section images were already done, but I started the layout from scratch in order to make navigation more intuitive. My goal was also to make a design where the section images could be swapped out from time to time in order to keep it fresh without having to redo the entire site. My goal for this site was to create a layout that was visually interesting, yet simple enough that the design didn't overpower the photographer's work. Since the client expressed an interest in maintaining the site himself, it was built to be easily updated by a person with limited HTML skills. The site is no longer live, but you can click on the image to the right to see a larger screen capture. You can also view a mirror of it here.
The layout that I did for the "Brain Tour" was an online slide show and has turned into one of the most popular sections on their website. I edited most of the images, implemented the roll-overs, and did a majority of the HTML and CSS. The Alzheimer's Association also made a CD version for distribution to their chapters and other educational venues. CardForum is one of the first sites at a previous employer for which I did a redesign, but it wasn't until a system was set up to dynamically generate pages that it finally went live. Stylesheets were limited to font usage mainly due to the limitations of older browsers. Click on the image to the right to see a larger screen capture.
CardLine was a product that is part of CardForum, but wasn't actively advertised due to it mainly being available for research purposes. The idea was to design a site similar to the parent site, while different enough that it would still be seen as its own entity. Stylesheets were limited to font usage mainly due to the limitations of older browsers. Click on the image to the right to see a larger screen capture.
Asset Securitization Directory
This was a new site created to be a sister product to a site called Asset Securitization Report. The idea was to make the directory look similar for branding purposes, yet different enough that it wouldn't be confused with the other site. Stylesheets were limited to font usage mainly due to the limitations of older browsers. Click on the image to the right to see a larger screen capture or go to the link below to see the live site.
I did the Card Technology design when it was originally given its own site - it had previously been lumped in with another product. Click on the image to the right to see a larger screen capture.
My main objective when designing this fan site was to make it visually interesting while keeping the file sizes as small as possible because I knew it could get killed on bandwidth. This approach came in especially handy when the site was mentioned in the July 2002 issue of Spin magazine in their cover story about the band (p. 68).
